Bare Necessity / Nashville / New Music Release / Guitarist Auditions
The past couple of weeks have been a musical whirlwind for me.
It started with an amazing pre-birthday show at Friends Pub in Friendswood, Texas, with Bare Necessity, a packed house, and a great show. It really set the tone for the upcoming events.
Jeanette took me to Nashville for my birthday weekend. We’re talking Grand Ole Opry, the Nashville Palace, (day one) the Country Music HOF, a meet & greet with Nashville singer/songwriter James House, a tour of the famous Studio B, and drinks at Jelly Roll’s new Nashville club, Goodnight Nashville. Not to mention all of the live music up & down Broadway (day two). It was inspiring.
The following day (day three) we went to Franklin, Tennessee to the Fox & Lock to see more great music and enjoy some great food. Leaving there, we wound up at a place called the Local and watched some excellent singer/songwriters sharing their craft.
Ultimately, there was a lot of live music happening for the entire stay. I did a lot of networking. I even did a photo shoot while I was there, to make it official, and then it was back home to Houston.
As inspired as I was, I added some lyrics to three new songs we are working on, and started promoting the upcoming music release for Start Of A Revolution.
I’m not a political songwriter, but this song is politically tinged. It was almost as if the song wrote itself. I was just observing the events.
The song drops Monday, and I hired a service to make an AI generated video to help support the song.
You may have noticed, but I’m trying some new promotional ideas for this release. First, this release will not be dropping to the myriad of streaming services that I typically use. There is an underlying reason that I will share in a future post, but I wanted to try the idea of a single source streaming from the band website. The song will still be free to stream, it will just be exclusively on our website.
In full transparency, I am hoping that some folks will be motivated to support local music and purchase the song, or songs, directly from the site. Believe me when I tell you, the streaming platforms pay less then 1/3 of a penny per stream. Musicians at our level do not make their livings from streaming services.
There are also plans afoot to get some DML Conspiracy merch made for sale online and at upcoming shows. More on that later.
Last piece of excitement to share is this. We are currently auditioning guitar players. We have a couple of hopeful candidates for the slots, so we may have more exciting news coming soon.
