Lyrics

Elephant In The Room
Music & Lyrics by Dodd Michael Lede

It’s still a mystery
Or maybe a Greek tragedy
Whatever you want to believe.
You might be the aristocracy
Or maybe an anomaly
But nothing is as what it seems.

Your lack of compassion
Your vanity fashion
Appeal to all of those in the know
And it’s hard to believe
How nobody can see
Baby just how far you’ll go

You played the victim
With so much conviction
You deserve an award
You spun your mystery
So damn convincingly
Everyone should applaud you

How can it be?
Nobody can see
The elephant in the room
Who knows how far you’ll go
To stay ahead of the truth

You took a love struck man
And made him part of your plan
Until they locked him away
You put him up on a shelf
And only thought of yourself
It’s just a game that you play.

But you poured the gasoline
Incited everything
And through your cigarette down
He stared at the flames
Til the authorities came
And found him with your gun in his mouth.

You were high in the moment
When everyone noticed
Nothing made any sense
And it became quite alarming
When the media’s darling
Laid down her greatest defense.

But when the party was over
And he was finally sober
He saw you in a different light
And with your crocodile tears
You fooled a jury of peers
And sleep like a baby at night

How can it be
Nobody can see
The elephant in the room
Who knows how far you’ll go
To stay ahead of the truth

You planted your seeds
For everyone to believe
And then you strung them along
Ain’t no big mystery
Cause everybody can see
What’s really going on.

And the media circus
They made it their purpose
To make sure they got it all right
But at the end of the day
He was the one who got played
And wound up in the limelight.

You were high in the moment
When everyone noticed
Nothing made any sense

And it became quite alarming
When the media’s darling
Laid down her greatest defense.

You played the victim
With so much conviction
You deserve an award
You spun your mystery
So damn convincingly
Everyone should applaud you

How can it be?
Nobody can see
The elephant in the room
Who knows how far you’ll go
To stay ahead of the truth

You took a love struck man
And made him part of your plan
Until they locked him away
You put him up on a shelf
And only thought of yourself
It’s just a game that you play.

But you poured the gasoline
Incited everything
And through your cigarette down
He stared at the flames
Til the authorities came
And found him with your gun in his mouth.

You were high in the moment
When everyone noticed
Nothing made any sense
And it became quite alarming
When the media’s darling
Laid down her greatest defense.
